New Addition

Ahem, Liam has an announcement. (see shirt)

We went for our first appointment with the Obstetrician this morning and scored a video of the first ultrasound! :) You'll see the little tyke pretty much just chillaxing, but near the end, there's a bit of movement. Keep your eyes open for the yolk sac (looks like a halo on our little angel), some arm buds and leg buds, and for the heart beating. At the 2:24 min mark, you can even see some fingers and toes! Too cool.

Next appointment is at 12 weeks and since I'm of ...ahem...advanced maternal age (being 35+, and all) we get to have extra ultrasounds! Yay!

Specs: 9 weeks and 1 day today, estimated due date: August 5, 2009 (Liam's same due date--although he was 10 days late. I guess we're going to try again for this day!)

Well, Liam's napping, Baby #2 is resting, so I guess it's time for me to nap, too.

Happy 16-monthiversary, Liam!!

Liam is 16 months old today! Since it's ice raining and generally icky out, we have been staying indoors and entertaining ourselves. So far today, we've:

picked toe lint

and taken the 'dog' (AKA my bathrobe) for a walk.

(Oh, there was also a haircut that took place sometime in the middle of all of this excitement, but we're not talking about that since it brings up baaaaad memories! Poor guy does not like getting his hair cut.)

We have storytime at the library at 4pm and I need to hit the post office, so once the prince awakes from his nap there won't be anymore lazing around picking our toes! We've got stuff to do! Places to go! Books to read! Crafts to make! Parcels to mail! Letters to post! Etc. Etc. Etc.

Acrobatics and Words

We played around a lot this morning--colouring, stickering, reading, doing puzzles, pulling Babydoll in the laundry basket--we kept ourselves busy. Thought I would put up a quick post to show off my son's brilliance. ;)

Santa's Little Elves

Today we went to the mall to get pictures taken with Santa. We met up with all of our little playgroup friends and Mommies and got a group shot taken with Mr. Claus. It worked out wonderfully!

Each babe also had his/her picture taken with the old guy and out of 7 kiddies, 5 flipped out...including your favourite little guy, of course. I have a classic picture of him screaming bloody murder and reaching out for me (off camera). It's a keeper. Once I can get it scanned and uploaded, I'll post it.

Things are busy this month. We had new neighbours move in next door, so we are having them over for a playdate tomorrow morning. They have 2 young boys, one who is 5 months older than Liam. Our street is flooded with little boys. I predict some wicked street hockey games in the future!

Anyway, lots to do! Must clean up for our playdate tomorrow!

So much to say!

Liam is a chatterbox! He has always had a lot to say in his cute little baby language.

His receptive vocabulary is also outstanding; he can understand almost anything you tell or ask him. But back to talking...so far, he has a few intelligible words--Dada and Momma are the most prominent, and "ba" when you ask him what a sheep says, and his newest word "ball" (as of yesterday!).

Otherwise, Liam communicates most effectively with sign language. He has quite a few signs now. I've decided to take an inventory of Liam's "words" and "sentences".

Anyway, I predict a boom of verbal language in the next couple of weeks. He's thrilled that he can say "ball" now and will flip through his books to find pictures of balls just so he can point to them and say, "ball". :) He has been trying to say book and dog today, too. He watches my mouth and purses his lips and tries so hard. He's gotten them a couple of times each, but he's not yet consistent with his accuracy. It will come! But until then, he picks up his sign language really quickly and it helps him communicate and keeps those nasty tantrums at bay (hallelujah!). For example, a light burned out in our kitchen and I told him it was "broken" and showed him the sign for broken (like you are breaking a pencil in half in front of you) and pointed to the light. Well, he pointed to the light at least 30 times today (not an exaggeration!!) and I had to tell/show him it's broken and I'll fix it. Eventually. I promise. Jeez. Quit nagging. ;) So, now he can also do his own sign for "broken" (as he points to the light yet again...)
