Happy 33-monthiversary, Liam!

Liam--you are two years and nine months old today! Congratulations!

GQ, watch out!

As I wrote last month, I suspected you were “leaping” forwards in your language. It seems that you have come out of your leap with more words! Daddy and I started hearing a difference gradually with how many more words your sentences contained. For example, instead of saying, “Your ball; my ball,” you will now say, “This is your ball and this is my ball.” You have consciousness of the other person when you are talking to him/her. It’s neat to hear your language developing every day.

However, you still come up with the funniest lines:
Liam: "Look! (as he stands on one foot). I'm a criminal!!"

Mommy: "No, honey, it's "flamingo."
Liam: (reviewing the rules with Mommy) "We don't throw Jude?"

Liam:  "I hear you! I hear you!" (to the fridge door-open alarm when Mommy was cleaning the fridge--definitely copying Mommy, there!)
You have been calling the computer "a computer" lately--gone is your "compeedu".  Your Eeyore is still Ee-whoa, and Lightning McQueen is still Lightmean Aqueen, though.  However, overall, your enunciation is much clearer.

You are also much more helpful around the house.  You will help get lunch ready by going to the fridge to get out some yogurts for both you and Mommy.  Then you pull your chair over to reach the spoons and put those on the table as well.  One extremely rushed morning as we were leaving for the gym, you pulled out Mommy's yoga mat and said, "You need this?"  Yes, I did and I had completely forgotten.  You're a big help to Mommy!

You have also been helping Jude learn to climb the stairs.  You show him how fast you can go and he scrambles up a couple of steps and you rush on down to cheer him on and laugh.

You have been playing more with your much more interactive little brother this month. You call him your "Chubby boy." You chat with him and he has been chatting and cooing back. He has developed a sound for your name when he wants to call for you. Jude will yell, “Ah!” when he hears you but can’t see you. Then he will scramble to find you and burst into a grin when he does. You treat him nicely for the most part, but occasionally, I do catch you leaning into him to make him fall over or stealing his toys. He’s going to catch on one of these days, Mister.

You’re getting better at riding your bike. You learned to brake and we have biked to the park and back with Drew, Jenny and Will from across the street. Drew is a year older and the coolest friend ever. (…because he’s a year older and knows lots of fun words like “poopy-butt”) You pedaled your little legs off to keep up with him and you were super-tuckered by the time we got home, but you did it! You are also great at listening to Mommy when she says stop and you wait to cross the street together. You’re a good boy.

You're attempting to read all of your books on your own these days. You will read them and look at the pictures for clues to help with the words.  Such good reading skills you have!  Mommy's so proud!!

It's a good thing Jude is solid!  The way you lay on him and pounce on him, no wilting flower would survive in this house!
